Weltweit kämpfen Menschen für Selbstbestimmung, Gleichheit und eine intakte Natur. In Bakurê, dem nördlichen Teil Kurdistans, zerstört der türkische Staat mit Dutzenden von Staudämmen die Lebensgrundlagen von Mensch, Tier und Natur.
Der Filmabend fokussiert auf die antike Stadt Heskîf, auch bekannt als Hasankeyf. Inputs zeigen die Geschichte und gesellschaftspolitischen Hintergründe des lokalen Staudammprojekts auf. Der Dokumentarfilm «Heskîf» lässt die vertriebenen Bewohner*innen zu Wort kommen. Im Anschluss gibt es Raum für Diskussion und Austausch.
Die Kollekte geht an die Betroffenen vom Erdbeben bzw. den Kurdischen Roten Halbmond. Der Abend wird durch die Mesopotamische Ökologiebewegung, den Kurdischen Kulturverein Bern und den Klimastreik Bern organisiert.

Durch den Bau des Ilısu-Staudamms wurde Heskîf/Hasankeyf, eine antike Stadtfestung am Tigris, die auf eine zwölftausendjährige Geschichte zurückblicken konnte, zerstört. Die Bewohner*innen der Dörfer, die dem Stausee weichen mussten, haben nicht nur ihre Häuser, sondern auch ihre Lebensgrundlage und ihre Erinnerungen verloren. Der Dokumentarfilm lässt die einstigen Bewohner*innen, die vertrieben wurden, selbst zu Wort kommen und zeigt das Ausmass des Verlustes.

Dünyanın dört bir yanında insanlar kendi kaderlerini tayin etmek, eşitlik ve bozulmamış bir doğa için mücadele ediyor. Kuzey Kürdistan da Türk devleti onlarca barajla inşa ederek insanların, hayvanların ve doğanın geçim kaynaklarını yok etmektedir.
Film akşamı, Hasankeyf olarak da bilinen Heskîf antik kente odaklanıyor. Film yerel baraj projesinin tarihi ve sosyo-politik arka planını gösteriyor. “Heskîf” belgesel filmi, yerinden edilen sakinler ile konuşma şansı veriyor. Filmden sonra tartışma ve fikir alışverişi için zaman ayrılacaktır.
Film etkiliğinde elde edilen yardımlar depremden etkilenenlere ve Heyva Sor a Kurdistanda aktarılacaktır. Bu etkinlik Mezopotamya Ekoloji Hareketi, Bern Kürt Kültür Derneği ve Bern İklim Grevi tarafından düzenlenmektedir.

Ilısu Barajı’nın inşası, Dicle Nehri üzerinde on iki bin yıllık bir geçmişe sahip olan antik bir şehir-kale olan Heskîf/Hasankeyf’i yok etti. Baraj inşasından dolayı yol sakinleri sadece evlerini değil, geçim kaynaklarını ve anılarını da kaybettiler. Belgesel, yerinden edilen eski köy sakinleri ve yerliler konuşuyorlar ve kaybın boyutları gösteriliyor.

All over the world, people are fighting for self-determination, equality and intact nature. In Bakurê, the northern part of Kurdistan, the Turkish state is destroying the livelihoods of people, animals and nature by building dozens of hydroelectric dams.
The film event will focus on the ancient city of Heskîf, also known as Hasankeyf. Introductory presentations will show the history and socio-political background of the local dam project. The documentary film “Heskîf” gives a voice to the displaced inhabitants. Afterwards there will be time for discussion and exchange.
The entrance is free. Donations will go to the people affected by the earthquake and to the Kurdish Red Crescent. The evening is jointly organised by the Mesopotamian Ecology Movement, the Kurdish Cultural Centre Bern and Climate Strike Bern.

The construction of the Ilısu dam destroyed Heskîf/Hasankeyf, an ancient city-fortress on the Tigris river with a twelve-thousand-year-old history. The inhabitants of the villages, who had been forced to make space for the reservoir, did not only lose their homes, but also their livelihoods and their memories. The documentary allows the former inhabitants to speak for themselves and shows the dimension of their loss.
